Snow Encounter

Fancy meeting you

Here…

In this

Frozen place

Between

Night and day

Where breath

Is so surprised

It turns to mist.

I’ll be back tomorrow,

Hope

You want

To play.

acrylic on canvas, 70cm x 100cm

This piece was inspired by British wildlife photographer George Wheelhouse’s piece called Snow Deer 2016.  When I saw it, I fell in love with the way all the deer were lined up, gazing at the photographer….and I felt drawn in, as if I had stumbled across their path some early morning or twilight fall.  I felt the surprise of knowing them, in their home, and their surprise at finding me blundering into their world.  I hope you feel drawn into the picture the same way.  George’s piece is much nicer, all blanketed in white and crisp and stark, while mine is messy and meandering.

You can visit George Wheelhouse here:  https://www.georgewheelhouse.com  and here:http://www.facebook.com/BritishWildlifePhotography

This piece will be on exhibit in Istanbul from Nov. 24 to Dec.9 as part of PonArt’s collection of work from Visual Art teachers in Turkey.
